Yum

Okay, this looks really good: Paleo Pesto Pasta.

It’s kind of chilly here in the Northeast, although apparently its not going to last for long, as it will be in the 90’s by the end of the week.

On Sunday and in honor of Father’s Day, I participated in my first ever Sunday Strongman class at ACF. What a total blast. No idea why ‘in honor of Father’s Day’ other than I miss my dad, and my mom. When you lose your parents at a younger age, you feel set adrift. It can be a lonely feeling if you let it take you. Thought maybe changing up my routine by trying something new would distract me. It worked.

There’s no real way to describe ACF Strongman other than you lift large awkward heavy things made of steel and stone.

I lift things up and put them down.

You wield a sledgehammer down onto a giant tractor tire, akin to that of chopping wood. There’s even a movement called the Farmer’s Carry, where you stand in place and hold two very heavy kettle bells in each hand for a minute. 15 burpee penalty for putting them down early. You get the idea. All movements based on those if you were a farmer, or logger, or general hard working laborer. None of which I am. The only thing on this body made of steel are my thumbs, from texting. So. Lame.

Took turns counting reps with my awesome partner, Kim. When we were done she handed back my log book to me, and wrote ‘Beast’ in the notes. A compliment in the CF world. Means you ‘crushed it’ as only a hardworking CF’er can do. Normally I do not want to ever be referred to as a Beast. But in this case, I was flattered. Especially liking the way she wrote it so decoratively. I’ll be back next weekend.
