restlessness

“Be the change you want to see in the world” – Mahatma Ghandi

It’s spring time. Don’t know about you, but spring time makes me restless. Like waking up from a long nap, well rested and ready to 3, 2, 1… Go.

But, Go Where? That’s the problem.

I have a full time job. A dog. Bills. Responsibilities. Reservations for dinner with friends on Saturday. So you see, there’s a problem. I have commitments, my schedule is full, plans are in place and the dog needs to be fed, the grass, watering.

But, that doesn’t solve my quandary. This restlessness is bigger then planning a Sunday afternoon drive to Vermont. This restlessness comes from a deeper place. It’s a need for change in routine, change in outlook, change in responsibilities. Change in Goals. We’re talking Logistical Change. What exactly does that mean? I have no idea. But it feels good to recognize, and open myself to the possibilities of what could be. And if I’m open, then I’m living the change. And if I’m living the change, then the change will be.

WOD:

I. Hang Power Snatch

1 – 1 – 1 – 1 – 1

Completed: I got all confused on these. I thought the squat portion was the priority. Dean very nicely explained that the squat portion is a way to use gravity to get under the bar, when the bar is really heavy. This was helpful in picturing and attempting this very complicated move. I worked up to 45lbs. Definitely could have gone heavier once grasping the idea behind it. Now know this is something to definitely work on. Overall the move felt good on the body, it stretches and strengthens.

II. 5 Rounds For Time:

Sumo-Deadlift High Pulls (115/75)

Ring Dips

Today is a planned cheat day. So worked extra hard during the WOD, if that’s even possible. to work extra hard during a WOD.  Knowing I would soon swan dive into the gluten pool. If only for one day.

patience

“The strongest of all warriors are these two — Time and Patience.”  — Leo Tolstoy

Really enjoyed reading Caleb’s post today. There’s nothing quite like openness and honesty. I’ve come to expect nothing less from the CF community.

Received some bad news today. Had to cancel a trip that I was very much looking forward to. Over a month of planning and dreaming and, dare we mention again… wait for it…. looking forward to. Alas, no trip for you. God, and your plans. God, and your plans. Truth is, everything does happen as it should. There’s no alternative.

So. As a result of now being in town on March 31st, well, what better way to spend my time than to sign up for my first, EVER, Crossfit Competition. Dude. Seriously? Why not. Bring on the Garage Games.
