Soar.

“One can never consent to creep when one feels an impulse to soar.” ― Helen Keller

The last time I did Elizabeth was in June. It was at 55lbs. and took over 9 minutes. (This all sounds so perverse and derogatory, but, it’s not… It’s anything but…) Anyhoo, in June I even lost count on the reps so who really knows my true score. I vowed to return and do Elizabeth again. *Fist held towards sky*

I never did.

Until today.

Today’s WOD: Elizabeth. Completed: at 75lbs. In 6:03. And definitely could have gone 10lbs. heavier. In case you missed that, I’m certain I could have gone 30lbs. heavier than my best in June. 10lbs. from RX at 95lbs.

My point: it’s incredible how you can feel certain you’ve hit a plateau, a stalling point, with no where left to go. Simply no more room to grow: In life, in CF, at work, with love, and then suddenly, one day, you wake up and your Personal Records punch through the ceiling and soar.

I. Barbell Gymnastics:

5 Sets –

Hang Squat Cleans + 1 Push Jerk

*Rest 90 seconds between sets

Completed: at 65lbs., 75lbs., 85lbs., 95lbs., 100lbs. Again, could have gone heavier. Remember the days when I was feeling stuck with trying to get 100lbs. overhead? Me too. No more.

II. Conditioning:

“Elisabeth”

21-15-9

Power Clean (135/95)

Ring Dips

Completed: in 6:09 at 75lbs. Scaled to ring push-ups.

Warm Up:

Burgener Warm-Up

WOD:

I. Back Squat

3 – 3 – 3 – 3 – 3

Completed: 85lbs, 105lbs., 115lbs., 125lbs., and 135lbs. No PR here. Was at 145lbs. 1RepMax back in February. Am I losing momentum and sliding back down hill? There’s a whole CF video on how athletes do not match nutrition with the same dedication as their workouts, and therefor fail to get to that next level. They plateau. Then worse, they regress. This could be what is happening to me. Let me rephrase that, this could be what I’m doing. Quite possibly.

II.

“Elizabeth”

For Time:

21 – 15 – 9

Power Clean (135/95)

Ring Dips

*12 Minute Cap

Completed: 9:40 at 55lbs. (Perhaps.)

Okay. I’m just going to put it out there. I think I cheated. Cheated myself. I lost count during the first round of this WOD, and I’m pretty sure didn’t do a full 21 in the first round. No idea what I actually ended up doing. Just remember feeling like everyone one else around me was ahead, and I needed to get going onto the ring dips. Alas, feeling like a slacker because even though my time ended up around 9:40, just not sure the amount of reps. Can’t let this sit like this. Because we know Elizabeth will be coming back around again, and want to be able to see if there’s any improvement when she does reappear. Plus, I didn’t finish and therefor need to set things right. Will try to hit again in the next week on my own. Just to see. It was a *itch. Let’s get that straight. She kicked my *ss even at less than full reps.
