“When you see someone putting on his Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Today is my mom’s birthday. Happy Birthday mom.
Today is also the day that my friend Carmen and I set off on an adventure to Brooklyn to make our way to the pit in front of the stage at the Barclays Center to see Pearl Jam in concert. It is standing room only.
I am on crutches.
We are armed with an EZPass and a handicap parking tag and my knee scooter and dark purple nail polish.
This will certainly be an adventure.
Not going to lie, am feeling pretty nervous about this whole thing; the throngs of fans, the getting from the car to the ticket window into the arena and down to the floor. Where will I stand? Will people knock up against me? Will they knock me over? How will I stand on one leg for that long? Will the arena give me a wheel chair? Should I try to bring the knee scooter inside the arena and rely on that during the show?
So many unknowns.
The good news, the Barclay Center is a fancy new arena. In reading through their website there is a lot of information available about the services available to disabled guests.
AND WE’RE OFF!
